De Altra Superior 5 zijn lichtgewicht trailschoenen. De update van deze schoenen is de verwijderbare StoneGuard. Het bovenwerk van de Superior 5 heeft een hoger ademend vermogen en voert vocht beter af. Het omsluit de voet voor een stevige, maar toch comfortabele fit. Daarnaast is het een lichtgewicht bovenwerk om je snelheid niet tegen te werken. De 'burrito-stijl' wikkeltong zorgt voor een omsloten gevoel.
De verwijderbare StoneGuard is gemaakt van minder materiaal, waardoor het lichter van gewicht is. De Quantic tussenzool is gemaakt van lichtgewicht dempingsmateriaal. Dit maakt de tussenzool responsief. De MaxTrac slijtzool zorgt voor grip en duurzaamheid. De slijtzool heeft een profiel in meerdere richtingen voor grip op elke ondergrond.
