Komrads APL – Mono Black High Top – Vegan Sneakers

Nieuw in de APL-familie. Met dit ontwerp gingen we verder met iets dat al op tafel lag: de high-top sneaker. We raakten geïnspireerd door het retro-ontwerp van hoge sneakers en wilden er een Komrads-twist aan geven. We hebben het ontwerp uitgekleed voor een nette en eenvoudige look: gemaakt met appelleder.

Sneakers gemaakt van appel leer. Komrads heeft de eerste stap gezet naar een zero-impact sneaker. Het was onze droom om een ​​comfortabele en modieuze sneaker te maken die onze planeet niet schaadt. Een sneaker waarvoor geen natuurlijke grondstoffen geoogst hoeven te worden en die volledig gemaakt is van gerecyclede en hergebruikte materialen. Verder kunnen we zeggen dat we officieel Peta-goedgekeurd zijn. (Peta: Mensen voor de ethische behandeling van dieren). Ontworpen in België en zorgvuldig geproduceerd in Portugal (EU).Welke materialen gebruiken we om onze APL-sneakers te maken? Bovenwerk: eco appelleer. Het appelleer is gemaakt van appelafval (schillen & kernen). Een ecologisch alternatief voor leer. Zool: gerecycled rubber van autobanden en oude sneakerzolen. Het rubber is sterk en van uitstekende kwaliteit. Voering en veters: gerecycled katoen en plastic flessen. Gerecycled katoen heeft het potentieel om het water- en energieverbruik in duurzame mode en kleding aanzienlijk te verminderen, evenals afval van stortplaatsen en ruimte te verminderen. Binnenzool: flexibel gerecycled carbon. Koolstof is een plantaardige stof met absorberende eigenschappen. De inlegzolen zijn ademend en antistatisch. Volg ons pad naar nul afval!

New to the APL family. With this design we moved ahead with something that was already on the table: the high-top sneaker. We got inspired by the retro design of high top sneakers, and wanted to give it a Komrads twist. We stripped the design down for a neat and simple look: created with apple leather.

Komrads has taken the first step towards a zero impact sneaker. It was our dream to make a comfortable and fashionable sneaker that doesn’t harm our planet. A sneaker for which no natural raw materials need to be harvested and which is entirely made of recycled and reused materials. Furthermore we can say that we are officially Peta-approved. (Peta: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). Designed in Belgium, and carefully produced in Portugal (EU).

Which materials do we use to make our APL sneakers?

• Upper: eco apple leather. The apple leather is made of apple waste (peels & cores). An ecological alternative to leather.
• Sole: recycled rubber from car tyres and old sneaker soles. The rubber is strong and from outstanding quality.
• Lining & Laces: recycled cotton & plastic bottles. Recycled cotton has the potential to greatly reduce water and energy consumption in sustainable fashion and apparel, as well as reduce landfill waste and space.
• Insole: flexible recycled carbon. Carbon is a plant based substance that has absorbing properties. The insoles are breathable & anti-static.

• Upper: vegan apple leather. Apple leather is made of apple waste (peels & cores). An ecological and vegan alternative to leather. 55% apple waste, 40% synthetic resin, 5% PU.
• Sole: 100% recycled rubber.
• Lining & Laces: recycled cotton & plastic bottles.
• Insole: removable insole made from flexible recycled carbon. Carbon is a plant-based supermaterial that has absorbing properties.

About apple leather:

The apple eco leather is produced in Italy using waste from the apple juice industry. Every year this industry leaves behind a significant amount of waste. This waste, consisting of apple peels and cores, is developed into a new raw material: an ecological alternative to animal leather. Moreover, apple leather is a cellulose-based material with as much as 55% of recycled apple fiber. In short, it’s a durable, bio-based and high-quality alternative to leather with a low environmental impact.
