De Komrads ICNS kennen een rijke geschiedenis. Het model werd voor het eerst geproduceerd in de jaren 50 in de Sovjetunie, als antwoord op de Amerikaanse basketbal sneaker, Converse All Stars. De Komrads ICNS stonden symbool als ‘kameraad van het volk’. In de jaren '80 en ’90 domineerden ze ook bij ons het straatbeeld en menig festivalweide.

De productie werd echter stopgezet in 2009. Wij dachten hier anders over. We reanimeerden de cultklassieker, bleven trouw aan het originele zwart-wit design maar voegden daar ook nieuwe, kleurrijke versies aan toe. De Komrads ICNS werden geboren!

Tijd voor een nieuwe belangrijke stap: de ICNS volledig duurzaam maken!

Het coole design van de ICNS werd uiteraard behouden! Nieuw is de zool uit 100% gerecycleerde rubber, de stof is 100% gerecycleerd van katoen en PET-flessen, alsook de veters. Geen metalen ringetjes meer en de binnenzool is uitneembaar en vervaardigd uit gerecycleerde carbon (Arnetech insole). De productie werd ook van Slovakije naar Portugal overgebracht, waar men erg ver staat in duurzame productie en de beste werkomstandigheden gegarandeerd worden.

The Komrads ICNS have a history that goes way back. The sneaker was first made around the fifties in the Sovjet Union in response to the American basketball trainer, Converse All Stars. The Komrads ICNS symbolised the 'comrade of the people'. In the 80’s and 90’s they also dominated the streets and many rock festivals.

However, the production was stopped in 2009. We thought differently. In 2015, Komrads reanimated the cult classic, remained faithful to the original black & white design but also added new, colourful versions. The Komrads ICNS were born!

Time for another important milestone: making the ICNS fully sustainable!

Of course the cool design of the ICNS has been retained! New is the sole made of 100% recycled rubber, the fabric is 100% recycled cotton and PET bottles, as well as the laces. No more metal rings and the insole is removable and made of recycled carbon (Arnetech insole). Production has also been moved from Slovakia to Portugal, where sustainable production and the best working conditions are guaranteed
